MEET OUR INSTRUCTOR

Matthew Stoddard

• Leonard, Minnesota •

Matt grew up and has lived in Minnesota most of his life. His interest in guns and shooting began in 1993 when he started hunting and learning about the outdoors with his dad. This hobby has grown over the years, and he’s been working with guns personally, recreationally, and professionally ever since.

As a current member of the NRL22 and NRL22X Leagues, Matt enjoys competing in long range precision .22 matches. He’s shot in numerous precision shooting competitions since 2010, including USPSA, IPSC, GPSL, NRL22, NRL22X, and he spent 5 years playing semi-pro paintball.

Matt holds a USCCA Instructor License, is a former NRA licensed instructor, and has worked in armed security since 2013. As a husband, father, and expert in situational awareness, he sees the growing need for firearms safety and skills training. He has advised and trained his family, and numerous friends and extended family members.

MEET OUR CO-FOUNDER

Michael Hall

• Zimmerman, Minnesota •

Mike is the owner/operator of Black Market Coatings for the last several years and currently holds a 07 FFL. He completed firearms safety/hunters education in Arizona in 1989/90. He has been hunting big game in northern Arizona since the age of 12. He grew up with firearms in the home and spending time in the Arizona desert target shooting.

Mike and his wife moved their family to Minnesota in 2014 where he continued building his career in mechanical engineering. Since moving to Minnesota, he has become more involved in firearms, including opening his own business that specializes in custom coatings. Black Market Coatings has also moved into retail sales and building firearms for their customers.

As his business has grown, Mike has observed the need for convenient firearms safety training for both new and seasoned firearm owners. In 2020 he started shooting in the NRL22 league. He is a former DNR Safety Instructor and USCCA Instructor. Currently, Mike is a .22 coach for his local 4H club, cohosts the Ringin Steel Podcast, and is the owner/operator of All Phase Manufacturing Machine Shop and Contract Manufacturing.

Vision

We want people to understand that it’s safe to have a firearm in the house, safe to have a firearm on your person, become proactive in your personal safety and the safety of your family, and to build future generations to keep the heritage of the American Constitution alive. Our focus is to promote tradition, education, awareness, safety, and skill, while removing stigma and myth.

Company History

Matthew Stoddard founded Disciple Defense Group with the support of Michael Hall in early 2021 out of a realized need for education and training in firearms during the COVID-19 shutdowns. After witnessing a number of new gun owners who did not understand or know how to use their weapons, Matt and Mike decided to pool their combined extensive gun experience and knowledge to begin training friends and family. They had conversations with local gun shop owners and discovered that this was not a unique need during this time. It was this realization that marked their decision to become certified to do training and extend their services to their local communities in Minnesota through a variety of training courses. They are eager to see where God leads Disciple Defense Group.
